On this retreat we will gather in fellowship, hear interesting talks on the art of making great spirits (both the beverage & eternal kind) and cigars, share great food, relax with a daily cigar (or more), grow in our walk with the Lord and spend time in worship!
Focus on Authentic Masculinity: Everything about this weekend is centered on authentic masculinity. Throughout the retreat, men naturally find their way to whiskey and cigars as vehicles for deeper spiritual conversation and fellowship. These elements are not mere indulgences but tools for creating an environment where men can be genuinely themselves while pursuing holiness.

When and where.
Location: Sanctus Ranch Retreat Center, Pipe Creek, Texas - a perfect Hill Country setting for masculine fellowship and spiritual renewal.
Dates: October 10-12, 2025
Friday: Registration opens 3:00 PM, first gathering 5:30 PM, dinner follows
Saturday: Full day of talks, fellowship, prayer, and our legendary steak feast
Sunday: Closing charge and Holy Mass at 11:00 AM
Family Welcome: All men are invited to bring families for our closing Mass, followed by Sangria Sunday with burgers, hot dogs, and family fellowship time.
Just as men develop sophistication about fine cigars and quality whiskey, they should cultivate equal depth in their spiritual lives. This retreat is designed for all men—married or single, young or old—who want to deepen their spiritual growth with intentionality and brotherhood.
Time with Jesus.
On Friday there will be priests available for confession to prepare your soul for deeper spiritual encounter. We will assist at the Traditional Latin Mass, connecting with centuries of masculine saints who worshipped in this ancient and beautiful form. We will pray the ancient hours of Prime and Vespers, grounding ourselves in the rhythm of prayer that has sustained Catholic men through the ages. Extended Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament provides profound quiet time with our Lord, while ample opportunity for independent prayer allows you to pursue whatever spiritual practices draw you closer to God.
This is your RETREAT! All scheduled activities are optional (you should really come to Mass!), if you would benefit from a nap, take it! Want to smoke another cigar while pondering scripture, do it! Have Whiskey in your coffee while reading spiritual classics, okay! Visit with a friend that is here, great idea! Stay in the chapel for more prayer, AMEN!
What is included.
Your registration covers weekend accommodations at Sanctus Ranch with multiple lodging options. All beverages are provided including snacks, soda, water, coffee & tea throughout the weekend.
Meals: Friday dinner (6:30) kicks off our fellowship. Saturday starts with breakfast (8:30), continues with lunch (12:30), and culminates in our Saturday evening feast (6:00) featuring Ribeye Steaks, Grilled Shrimp, our famous Baked Potato Salad, Green Beans & Rolls! Sunday breakfast (8:00) sends you home satisfied.
Spiritual Program: All talks, prayer sessions, and spiritual activities are included. Materials for solo smoke contemplation provided.
Fellowship Opportunities: Bonfire gatherings, platoon meetings, and man tribe sessions - everything needed for authentic masculine brotherhood.
Core Components
The Solo Smoke (45 minutes to 1 hour): Time away from electronics and distractions for contemplation. Sit in solitude with a cigar and beverage, focusing on spiritual reading, scripture, or Church teaching. Develop personal prayer and reflection habits.
The Platoon Meeting (Small groups of 6-8 men): Foster male community and brotherhood through discussions on being holy husbands, fathers, and men of God. Create accountability and support networks.
The Man Tribe (Large group gatherings): Energize and fire up men as spiritual warriors. These gatherings advance the reign of Christ the King in the world.

This weekend offers multiple pathways to deepen your relationship with the Lord. Find Him in the quiet contemplation of a solitary smoke, where silence becomes prayer and reflection ignites the soul. Discover Him in the brotherhood of small group sessions, where men can speak openly about the sacred calling to be holy husbands, devoted fathers, and faithful servants of God. Experience Him in the power of our full brotherhood gathering, where the energy of united men in Christ prepares us for the spiritual battles ahead.
Every lesson learned here is designed to strengthen your walk with God long after you return home. Throughout your everyday life, those natural moments over whiskey and cigars become sacred opportunities—times for spiritual reflection, authentic conversation, and the kind of masculine fellowship that builds men of character and faith.
This isn't just a weekend retreat. It's training for a lifetime of living as a man after God's own heart.
Meet our Spiritual Director for the Weekend
Father Adam Purdy- Prior of Queen of Angels Priory
Fr. Purdy was born in upstate New York. He entered the seminary in 1995 and was ordained to the priesthood in 2001. He has been stationed in England, the Philippines, and the United States during his 23 years of priesthood. He was assigned to Queen of Angels Church in 2020.
What I should bring.
Please bring comfortable clothes, jacket, personal toiletries & your bath towel. Also, participants will be asked to bring a bottle of your favorite spirit and cigars for the weekend. All smoking will be outdoors.
Please also bring your bible, rosary, prayer books, cigar cutters and lighters.
Bring your Dad, your brother, your son, your friend.
